Many people support l.g.b.t.q+ organizations or just support in emotional help. But when you say “support”, do you actually mean that you would stick up for someone that’s lesbian or gay, bisexuals, or transgenders? I am an l.g.b.t.q+ supporter. Terms and phrases such as “Dude, that’s so gay!” and “faggot” are thrown around thinking it just doesn’t mean anything except insult a person. Behind those terms and phrases, are hurtful messages to l.g.b.t.q+ teens and adults.
Many teens and adults that are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender are afraid to come out because of bullying. Many teenagers are bullied if they are found to be gay or lesbian by their schoolmates. According to bullyingstatistics.org, recent studies show that gay and lesbian teens are two to three times more likely to be bullied than normal teens. Also, in many foreign countries, if you are found to be gay or lesbian, you are either arrested or killed as punishment. This is wrong, you should not be punished just because of ur sexuality.
L.G.B.T.Q+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and others. I support all of these community groups. Many of my good friends are either gay, lesbian, transgender or bisexual. I have not yet made any friends that are queer/questioning their sexuality but I’ll be sure to guide them along their way. Now speaking to all the members of the LGBTQ+ community group, don’t let anyone stand in your way. Be proud of who you are!
